Hi!  I'm Kimberley, but most people call me Kim. I'm a South Jersey native who now lives in Orlando, Florida.

I discovered van life several years ago after watching countless YouTube videos and daydreaming about having adventures of my own.  I have a family, a full-time job and plenty of responsibilities, so becoming a full-time van lifer wasn't realistic.  Eventually, I realized it didn't have to be.

In August 2020, a friend who had become a widow needed to sell her minivan.  I bought it, named it The Rookery, and began turning it into my little home on wheels.  My original goal was simple: take at least one overnight trip each month.  Six years later, The Rookery and I are still going.

Along the way, I realized that this blog doesn't have to be only about van life.  I've accumulated a lifetime of stories—some funny, some frightening, some meaningful and some just plain strange.  I've traveled throughout the United States and around the world, and I still have plenty of places I want to see.

So here you'll find van life, travel, Tiny Stories, life lessons, faith, books and movies, people I meet, things I've learned, things I've bought, things I wish I hadn't bought, and whatever else seems worth sharing.

I'm still working full-time and still figuring out what I want the next chapter of my life to look like.  I don't believe adventure requires quitting your job, selling everything you own or living in a van full-time.  Sometimes you just need to go somewhere you've never been before.
